What we do
The Sew London Project CIC is a social enterprise that aims to reduce textile waste by empowering communities through hands-on workshops. The organization teaches essential repair and alteration sewing skills, allowing individuals to extend the life of their garments and reduce their environmental impact. In addition to workshops, Sew London offers a variety of services, including clothing rentals, professional repair and alteration services, and the resale of preloved clothing. By providing these sustainable fashion solutions, the enterprise encourages a circular economy and promotes mindful consumption. Our core mission is to foster creativity, sustainability, and community engagement while reducing the fashion industry's carbon footprint through practical sewing skills and sustainable practices.
Why CREATIVE SUSTAINABLE RESPONSIBILITY?
About Us
It is important to take care of our environment and help improve the well-being of lives, these two things are very important to the Sew London Project CIC, we started in 2013 and evolved into a social enterprise in 2020.
We continue to to work within our local community of Barking and Dagenham, the council, Schools, and other organisations, on collaborative projects to help educate how to reduce textile waste creatively.
It is important to promote sustainable Fashion education to the younger generation through social responsibility programs in schools and Further education colleges, to help raise awareness of the negative impact of fast fashion on our environment, and to promote the reduction of landfill and carbon emissions.
The programs will teach how to reduce, reuse and upcycle workshops, sewing, Up-cycling projects and talks.
Our school workshops can be tailored to the school time table anything from 45 mins assembly, one day projects to several workshops over a term. We also run CPD Days for organisations and schools.

What we do
SEW LONDON REPURPOSE STORE
The high street has changed and the SEW LONDON PROJECT CIC wants to be part of the revolutionary vision to Re-think the high street and circular economy.
In September to November 2023 we opened our first Pop-up store at Ilford Spark Lab, and the community had a positive response to our presence and our vision to reduce waste and sell second hand clothes, or have their garments professionally repaired.
At the Sew London Project Re-Purpose Pop-ups and Shops,
Our focus is on resale of pre-loved fashion, clothes rentals, professional repairs and alterations services, but we also educate the next generation health and well-being, repairs and alteration skills to repair their own garments, entrepreneurial skills, sewing, arts and craft projects to Adults and Young people how to re-think fast fashion and its harmful effects on the environment.
The Mayor's of London's vision is by 2030, there will be zero waste, textiles being one of the worst pollutants.
The heart of what we do is working with local communities, deliver 'Catch them young' Up-cycling schools projects in conjunction with the local waste management team within the Borough of Barking and Dagenham, and other sustainable events in other London boroughs.

We are a big believer in giving back to the community so when I was approached in 2022 to create Bereavement quilt blankets for Queens Hospital Romford, my local community raised money to buy fabric and I volunteered with some members from my sewing group to make blankets for the bereaved, this is an on-going project, which aim to keep supporting for as long as we can.
